Online music in France

Lawmakers in Paris last week approved a bill that would require Apple Computer to make songs sold on its very successful iTunes Web site playable on all music devices, not just Apple's hugely successful iPods.

The draft law, which still must be approved by France's Senate, doesn't specifically target Apple. But as the overwhelming market leader for music downloads, Apple is clearly the company that would be hit hardest by a one-song-fits-all requirement.

Apple calls this a recipe for "state-sponsored piracy." Consumer advocates say otherwise. I think the French could be on the right track here, I hope the law goes forward and is approved and implemented.

Trip to St. Croix

And I finally got around to posting a few pics from my recent trip to the US Virgin Islands. Click on the image below to see them

Stand

A quick pic of the new center speaker stand which allows much better sound distribution throughout the room.

Neuros

Neuros has been releasing cool devices for a while, typically ahead of the curve. Here's another nice unit that may be very useful to PSP owners. Sony is working on a similar product, but it will be more expensive and it will take a few more months. If you like taking shows or movies with you and watching them on your PSP, no need to wait:

Saturday

Went on standby and caught an early flight today. Landed in Newark, it worked out great.

Last night I hung out with always-fabulous Jen for dinner and drinks, it was fun.

I'm back home in NY now. Unpacked, ate something. Watched some TV. I have quite a few errands to run.
