Permanent Link For Entry #179

Tue night

Got stuck at work for a while this evening. Everything was fine until 7 or so, we even had a party going on at the bar, but then some of the dev servers ran into problems and had to get involved. Didn't get done until a few minutes ago.

On an unrelated note, I had the co-op board interview yesterday. Very nice people, 2 ladies and 2 gentlemen asked me a few questions. It was quite pleasant. My broker called this afternoon to let me know I was approved. Next step: set up the closing, which will be no small task. Then, schedule movers, pack, etc.

At the same time, my current building has started a condo conversion process, which seems to be common in the city these days. The property owner, Swig Equities, just published "The Red Herring", which is a compilation of information they have to provide to all tenants explaining the process, and including the values of all apartments. The booklet is like 400 pages long. I found out the studio I'm currently leasing is almost 700 sq ft and has been upraised at $989,000 (!) This area - Columbus Circle - is now hot because of the new AOL Time Warner buildings, the mall, Whole Foods, the new Columbus Circle itself, the new cool glass building on 57th and 8th, etc.
