Friday
Hung out with a local, Abbey, yesterday. Hit some clubs late, I needed a break before today.
Got up at 6:00 am today, left for Daytona International Speedway by 7 something. We setup and opened the Crown experience to the general public by 10 or so. We had already pre-trained the promotional assistants yesterday evening. A little better that last year, when we had the training call for them at 5:30 am (!) - and it was really cold. I remember I had to get them hot chocolate several times.
This year it's 80+ outside, amazingly nice weather.
Yesterday there was an hour-long rain delay in the qualifiers for Sunday's Daytona 500, plus both of Thursday's Duel 150 qualifying races were dragged into overtime.
Late-race wrecks brought out cautions in each of the qualifiers just before the scheduled 60 laps were complete. After the races finished under a two-lap, green-white-checkered flag finish, Elliott Sadler claimed victory in the first Duel 150 and Jeff Gordon held on to win the second race.
