GDrive

So I guess Google's internal GDrive client leaked yesterday, named Platypus. Allows employees to sync files from their machines to a server. Only works from certain IPs, to be expected. Other apps out there do this today, but I am sure Google's implementation is very nice, you can control permissions, etc. They also have a Linux version.

We've been able to tap into GMail's storage for a while via the clever GMailFS, which creates a virtual filesystem around your GMail account , allowing you to use it as online storage. Not bad now that GMail comes with almost 3 Gb of space.

Cool and nice this morning, around 52F in NYC. Reading the news headlines.

I saw Jessica Alba was voted "most kissable" actress in Hollywood, followed by Angelina and Eva Longoria. No issues with #1 and 2, but Eva just doesn't do it for me.

Console

The new console table arrived yesterday but I have to assemble it. It's heavy too. I may try tomorrow. Seems to come in a thousand pieces, as usual. Ugh. Still waiting on the lamp, I have no idea why it's taking so long. I sent them a message yesterday, no response so far.

Weather

BTW, kind of chilly yesterday and today in the morning. About 50F or so. Still, not too bad, but we are heading there, agh. I would much rather stay with Spring or Fall weather all year long, don't like the cold.

I am debating whether I want to go out for a while. Not sure. My batteries are pretty low, leaning towards staying in, we'll see.

Friday and ProtectMyPhotos

It's Friday, great . About time! So, a company called ProtectMyPhotos just launched a product by the same name that lets you sync up your pictures only very quickly and easily. Nice, simple, foolproof interface. There other products out there (Carbonite, MyFabrik, Streamload, WebLife, StashSpace, Zoho, etc.), some with more features, but this one is pretty easy to use and at a reasonable price.
