Audi scores historic diesel victory in Sebring

In other related motorsports news - how CNN'is - Audi Sport North America's team dominated the 54th running of the Mobil 12 Hours of Sebring in Florida yesterday, starting from pole and winning by four laps in a new Audi R10 TDI Power (yes, you read correctly, a Turbo Diesel engine.)

The winners drove 349 laps around the 3.7-mile World War II airport course in 12 hours, 12 seconds in the American Le Mans Series opener.

Audi will become the first manufacturer to compete for the overall victory with a diesel engine at the most famous sportscar race in the world - the 24 hours of Le Mans. Don't say I didn't warn you about Diesel engines taking over the world

Audi unveiled the new R10, its successor to the brilliant R8, in December in Paris. The engine is a marvel - a 5.5-liter, all-aluminum v12 twin-turbo TDI. It develops 650 hp and more than 1,100 Nm torque. I crushed all other cars on the GT track yesterday, including the Ferrari's, Corvettes and Aston Martins.

Veronica

I guess I forgot to mention that when I drove by the CNN world headquarters building on Thursday, I saw Veronica de la Cruz, a very cool CNN anchor, walking out of the building

Sun

We were up late working yesterday, got to my motel by 4 am. The race already started today, should be able to take a break and get some lunch. I think I saw a Longhorn in the area, I am going to see if I can track it down

Watched the Busch series race yesterday from the Grand Stands, it was cool. You can never get over how loud the cars are. Jeff Burton passed Matt Kenseth with 20 laps remaining and raced away to his first NASCAR Busch Series victory in four years.

Burton is a regular with Richard Childress Racing in the Nextel Cup Series and only a part-time performer in Busch. He beat runner-up Kasey Kahne, who won last week in Las Vegas, to the finish line by 1.42 seconds -- nearly half the final straightaway on the 1.54-mile Atlanta Motor Speedway oval -- to take the Nicorette 300.

My flight tomorrow morning has been cancelled due to the weather conditions expected. I am going to see if I can rebook on an earlier flight

Song

Jen S. from work reminded me of this funny parody video:

http://www.albinoblacksheep.com/flash/numa.php

Should at the very least elicit a smile . As background, the song in question was a number one hit in Europe the summer of 2004. The group is called O-Zone. The song is Dragostea din Tei. The gentleman in the video is Mr. Gary Brolsma. The video is known as the "Numa Numa Dance." I may have posted about O-Zone before, I can't remember.

You can read more about all of it here:

And you can buy the album here
