End of January - Post #3,000

Last day of the month, enjoying excellent weather, on the high 50's even after 11 pm, and I believe tomorrow we will be getting more of the same. I can't believe this is my 3,000th post on the blog, almost 6 years after it launched

the facebook IPO approaches, it will likely be explosive. and amazon reported results today, they were OK but disappointed the street estimates and as a result shares dropped 10%. great month for stocks, though, up 7% or so.

the superbowl is approaching, hosted by indianapolis of all places.

heating up some pizza for dinner, leftover from sunday.

Visit to Doug & Sarah's in Wyckoff

Sunday afternoon, nice and sunny in Manhattan. It feels like the full weight of the winter hasn't hit us yet. Sure, we've had a few cold days here and there, but so far so good, hope it stays nice like this thru the end of February. February is the tough month, let's see how it unfolds.

Yesterday we took a trip to Wyckoff in NJ to visit Doug and Sarah. We had a very nice time, ate dinner at their house. We drove back in the evening, got back home around 10 pm. Woke up a little late this morning, got good rest. Getting ready to eat brunch now.

Copa del Rey - Madrid vs. Barcelona game 2

Watched the second round of the King's Cup Barca vs. Madrid game last night, I had TiVo'd and stayed away from my phone so nobody would txt me or email me the results. It was a great game, with Madrid playing mostly better in a great performance and good effort, but they came short, a 2-2 tie that send Barca thru on the away game result.

It's been rainy all evening today, and I think will continue to rain tomorrow, but at least it's relatively mild.

In more sports, Nadal played Federer this early a.m., and won. Australian Open.

State of the Union

Watched the State of the Union speech. It felt like very much a setup for the 2012 election, lots of talk about "economic fairness". A tad long, and somewhat confrontational with congress, it was interrupted a bit too much by the applause, which is no unusual. Lots of ideas, some decent, but many are quick to point out the president has been absent over the past 3 years from many of the areas he spoke about today.

Finished up dinner, reading the news, programming the TiVo for the King's Cup match tomorrow in Spain, the will head to bed soon. Might watch an episode of Spartacus Blood and Sand at most.

anonyupload

haha, anonymous hits back with anonyupload. too funny. not sure it will get off the group, but fun to watch. stay tuned, opens wednesday jan 25 according to the site.
