a new monday, a new week. nicole has a cold, has been coughing quite a bit, hope she feels better soon.
just watched csi miami, still a decent show, i like it. spent a bit of time tinkering some more with my new WRT610N router. took me a while to get it to connect at 300 Mbps at 5GHz in n-mode to the U350 netbook. but now it does, cool. now i just have to optimize the connection to the desktop on the second bedroom. maybe tomorrow, it's getting late.
Home, chillin'. Local wireless LAN continues to work at amazing speeds just with the new cisco box sitting next to the old router. It's not even plugged in and it's made all g devices connect to full 54 Mbs all the time. I can't wait to get it hooked up so that I can use my n cards and connect at much faster speeds.
External speed solid as well. Took a snapshot while downloading some windows updates, everything coming down at a stable 10 Mbps sustained, with bursts going higher.
We took a walk around SoHo today, it was nice except when the cool wind blew, which made it slightly uncomfortable. Walked into the Uggs store where Nicole got some boots. It was quite busy, I guess they are still very popular. After that we headed to The Smith for our standby reservation. It was very crowded, typical on a Saturday night, but despite that we managed to get a table right away.

Friday evening, night. One of the best times of the week. Tinkering with and configuring Nicole's shiny new Lenovo U350. It's actually quite fast, and it's running Windows Vista. When I upgrade it to Win 7, should be even better. Some initial impressions:
- the screen is excellent, super crisp and bright. plus it's glossy.
- the keyboard is very good, full size. feels right immediately when you start typing
- the hard drive is pretty quick, rated at 5.3 on the vista experience index
- it's very thin, and fairly light
- it came loaded with tons of bloatware, took me a while to clean it all up
- came with vista home premium SP1. it's taken me a while to get it fully updated, get office on it, etc.
now transferring documents, will be another day or two before everything is in there. Gonna have to reinstall Rosetta Stone, etc. buff. plus i have to transfer itunes music into it, that will take a while too.
kinda chilly today, cool outside. temperature is the 30's right now, definitely requires a good jacket.
hans stopped by for a minute earlier to borrow one of my blackberries, his died this week. they typical issue where the ball doesn't work anymore. i am stunned blackberry has been incapable to solve this issue in the past many years. everybody i know with a bb ends up having this problem sooner or later.
can't believe it's november already this year, time flies so fast. traded txt's with bill this evening, he is taking an encryption class, topic today was the RSA algorithm, fun.
also, my close friend nate has taken a job at my company, cool. he will be moving soon from seattle to nyc. that will be awesome.
tranded emails with my mom a bit ago, we always do so on wednesdays. had lunch at campanile, it was the busiest i've ever seen it, there is usually nobody there.
a little cooler this morning on the way to work, i was almost cold walking in my le trigre vest.
