Next Jump is on TechCrunch

Wow, my company is on TechCrunch, cool

gmail and https

Looks like gmail is finally defaulting to https for everybody, geez, about time. I can't believe they went for so long serving up everybody's content over http and people didn't say anything. I changed mine to go over https a long time ago, but they kept the setting pretty buried, so most people didn't even realize. Even when I noticed I just couldn't believe they defaulted everybody to http instead of https. I guess it took them a while to build up capacity to support it.

dinner, TWC wideband

having late dinner, got home a bit ago. reading about the disaster in haiti, that is awful.

have to check on my desktop as well, see if it's finished downloading some stuff i queued up last night.

i am considering bumping bandwidth to 15 Mbs or 20 Mbps. The ideal would be to get Wide Band from TWC, but their price is a bit high at the moment, they just launched the service in NYC, it's the only city where you can get it. You get a massive 50 Mbps of download bandwidth, over 6 Mbytes/s.

flash/iphone

Sounds like Flash is coming to the iPhone as a development tool, allowing anybody with ActionScript skills to develop a mobile app. That should be interesting, will definitely accelerate the creations of apps. Apparently you will be able to access all the APIs from the Flash IDE. If it works as advertised, this should easily revolutionize the app store and we should see the number of apps grow exponentially. Currently, objective-C is not the easiest thing to learn for most people without an OOP background, so the barrier to entry is relatively high.
