Top 10 Best Jobs

A little bit of progress with the kitchen project. Still all covered in dust, but now the walls and frames have been refinished, and the electric has been moved to where it needs to be. Hopefully they will start with the floor next week. Looking a little better.

Wed

So, got home a bit ago, rainy and cold today. I think it's supposed to be dried the rest of the week, but it's going to get colder. Have to eat something for dinner. We don't have any way to heat food anymore, all the kitchen appliances are out. I will try to pick up a small microwave for the bedroom, as a temporary measure.

Nicole took down our Xmas tree tonight, the building will pick it up this week and dispose of it.

I haven't had a chance to play with the copy of Vista 7 beta that Pep gave me yet. Will try this weekend. I also have a bunch of pics I have to process and put into albums when I have a chance.

The contractor has done a bit more work, started to repair the frames and walls, and done some initial electrical work. After that, the floors will be next.

Mon

First day at work after the holidays. A little long, catching up and all, but fine. Got home a while ago, had some dinner. Now reading the papers and backing up some data.

Brought about 15 Gb of new music and 300 Gb of movies from Spain, thanks to my parents broadband connection, Spain's IP laws, and also to my brother . I watched a couple of the movies already. One of them on the flight back, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, with Brad Pitt and stuff. I know it's got pretty good reviews, but I just didn't quite love it. It was OK, but that's it. Brad Pitt played a role similar to others he has done, with some weird snippets of himself when he was young at the end, pssse. Then last night we watched Twillight (Crepusculo in Spanish). It was OK, nothing too great either, the book was probably much better.

Apt under construction

A couple quick shots of the living room and the kitchen under construction. We are taking down a kitchen wall to open it up to the living room and setup a kitchen island. It's going to take a while before it's all completed. Quite a bit of dust everywhere.

Sun

Back in NY, we landed yesterday afternoon and took a cab back home with all the luggage. Our place is still under construction, and will continue to be for probably several weeks. Don't even have a sink or a range anymore, only a fridge. They have now taken down one of the kitchen walls, and all the debris is on the floor, it will be a while before it is in inhabitable shape again. In the meantime I guess we will have to live off the bedroom.

It's cold outside, we just had breakfast - Nicole brought me a chocolate croissant .
