weekend

finally the weekend is here, feels good after missing out on last weekend completely and having to work, including labor day monday.

was browsing El Pais this morning and came across an article on Alexander McQueen's exhibit, which we saw a while back at the MET with my parents, cool stuff.

several interesting sporting events today: la liga has started again, and so there is a barcelona game a 2pm EST. will see if i can catch it possibly, hopefully it is on Gol TV. this evening nadal plays murray at the us open. should be a good game, they played few times, and murray won last time, i think it was in 2008. i hope it doesn't rain again, the rain has really hurt the tournament's flow this year, to the point the finals will be on monday instead of sunday.

my friends Bobby and Judit are in town from Boston, there is a chance we might meet up with them for brunch.

and tonight we are getting together with a few friends for dinner, we are going to Socarrat again, we liked it so much

time warner ->. tmobile

i am running an experiment. i realized i barely ever use my home phone number anymore - that's right, i still have a land line. i've had this number for a long, long time, and i would rather not give it up, though. so, i am trying to transfer it to another carrier. this is sort of common between cell phone carriers but not for land lines. the carriers don't volunteer this info, but you can actually transfer any line from anywhere to anywhere, it doesn't matter, from mobile to land, from land to mobile, from mobile to mobile, etc.

despite that, when i called t-mobile today and told them i wanted to move my time warner land line to a pre-paid t-mobile phone, the reps were puzzled. they bounced me around a few departments till i got in touch of level 2 tech support and the guy had no problem completing my request. the transfer is now in, it's up to time warner to let it go thru, and they should. once that happens, they said typically takes a day or two, i should have my 212 number on my cell.

the next step in this saga will be parking the number on google voice, that would be cool. but let's take it one step at a time for now.

status

long nights at work for the past week, so no time for updates here on my blog

let's see if things return to normal in a couple days, and can resume the posting. i still have a couple photo albums queued up and a few more things.

btw, i noticed optoma came out with a new 3d 1080p projector, impressive. it's actually priced at $1.5k and competes with projectors that cost twice as much, very nice.
