Thu

Met up with Chris, Andrei, Melissa and Rachel for drinks after work today, so much fun. We hung out at Woody's on 14th St. Just got home a few moments ago. Surprise email from an old friend, and a favorite person, Jen, who now lives in New Orleands, she got married a couple of days ago! So happy for her. Talked to Bill for a bit on the way home, he will be here tomorrow and spend the weekend. He is in an interesting situation himself. Hung out w/ Kaye last night, stopped by the Irish pub on 35th, had some bar food, watched tv after that.

And the weekend is almost here, cool

Tue

Still copying my MP3s back onto the new drive, takes foreeeeever. Had great pizza for lunch today, not hungry yet. I really like the new desktop wallpaper so far. The weather continues to be great so far this summer, not hot at all. Like 72 F right now out on the street. Talked to Bill for a bit. Watching old episodes of Smallville, so many backed up on the DVR.

Picnic pics

And here we go, just a few pics:

Justyn by the pool at Camp Kiwi

Mon

Monday, and a new week. Mondays are always rough, and kind of long. Fixin' something to eat. Got some of the company picnic pictures, which I will try to post. Heard back from Rachel, supposed to meet friends for drinks on Thu evening.

Rainy all day. One of my hard drives crashed this weekend. Luckily all the data was backed up (it was my MP3 collection.) Copying it back over, but it takes forever. A lot of the disks for years ago are plain CDs, and I have a million of them. Well, no literally, but I do have like 300 of them, so it's a pain to copy them one by one. May re-burn them in dual layer DVDs.

IE 7 CPU and memory utilization

I've noticed IE7 uses a lot more memory and CPU than IE6 used to. It is not uncommon for IE7 to lockup my machine with 90-100% cpu utlization for several seconds when opening a new complex page. Pages like ESPN's homepage and many others with several embedded Flash pieces and movies cause it. Long pages that make use of client-side XML manipulations cause it as well. I get the impression the rendering engine in IE7 is way suboptimal. Similarly, memory usage is high, and it's not unusual for a single instance to be using 150 Mb or more, even with just one or two tabs in use.
