today was elisabet's sait day, Felicitats Elisabet!!

rainy day in NYC, and the weather also got a little cooler, but still not too bad. just finishing up dinner now, watching this week's hellcats episode, which is a new show this season, seems OK but not great.

in tech news, apple approves google voice, about time. plus google jumps into the online apparel and accessories industry, a move that raises eyebrows.

open table sucks

finally, an article about this. this service, which i loved for a long time, is slowly becoming less attractive. their points program is really, really bad. i mean, worse than bad, and they have little intention of making it better, i have heard them say they don't care about it. on top of that, the restaurants have increasingly started calling you to confirm the reservations. if i wanted to take a call and talk on the phone, i would not have used opentable to begin with. so the call half defeats the purpose of using the service to being with. anyway, the article verbalizes it quite well.

Can (and Should) OpenTable Be Disrupted?

I’ve had a checkered relationship with OpenTable. Initially, I loved it as a user, then was let down as the service evolved. For instance I found the eat-at-100-restaurants-and-get-a-measly-$20-check rewards system slightly better than a punch in the face and was annoyed that restaurants still required me to call to verify a reservation. If I had time to make a phone call, I wouldn’t have used OpenTable. Duh.

I’ve vocally accused the site of tailoring its service too much to the restaurants’ needs– who after all pay the bills– and ignoring a better customer experience. (Once a customer service rep for OpenTable actually told me they only cared if the restaurants were happy.)

delicious dinner, a chorizo sandwich that nicole made with tomato bread, plus cheese, plus olives and star chips

catching up on csi ny, good episode.

saw that itunes is finally getting the beatles collection, it's taken steve jobs long enough. although with all those billions in the bank there is probably few things apple can't get if it really wants them. rumor has it they turned down the kinect guys when they pitched the product before going to microsoft.

dinner on saturday

forgot to mention that we did have dinner on saturday with ingrid and edward, as well as ann and vince. we ate at a small plates italian place on third avenue and 24th street. the name escapes me now. it was good. the crowd was a bit loud at times, we had a large table next to us and they were celebrating a birthday.
