Sat

Done some cleaning up around the apartment, and caught up on bills and such. I am charging my old BB curve because I never finished transferring all my phone numbers, so i occasionally get txt messages on the iphone and I can't tell who it is.

I also played around with the database behind the blog and optized its size. Seemed like way too large (20 Mb) for the amount of data it contained, I got it down to 3 Mb compressing certain tables. The blog should now load faster and be more responsive.

Fri

The weekend is here! Got home a bit ago, getting ready to take Bogie out for a walk. Nicole is meeting a couple of her friends for dinner, she hasn't seen them in a long time. We went to NYU Medical center today and they took the big and heavy cast off her foot, and put a lighter hard sole on her, much better. Will still be another 4 weeks with it.

I was reading an article about JIT and h-indexes earlier, I wonder what Pep's or Bill's JIT index is .

Kind of warm today, felt summery. Haven't had a chance to post much these past few days, I still have a few pic albums I have to post soon.

Saw Barca got Ibrahimovic, not bad, let's see how he does.

Heard from Nate this week, he will probably be in town in August.

Mon

A new week begins. Surprisingly, the weather continues to be very mild, it has not been hot at all yet all summer. We got home late, Mondays are long days, walked Bogie and ran some errands. Just had late dinner, and going to read the paper a bit before going to bed.

Saturday

Quite a packed day today. We got up early, rented a car at Hertz on 13th Street, got a Mazda 6 which turned out to be decent. Headed to New Jersey, Nicole had a hair appointment at her place, she has been going there since college. I dropped her off then headed back into the city to pick up Hans, and we went back to Jersey. Dropped Jodi off at the Garden State Plaza mall, and headed to MicroCenter, where we proceeded to look at devices for the next few hours. After that we picked up Nicole and went to dinner at Longhorn. It was very packed, we have to wait 20 min to get a table, but was well worth it, as usual. After that we stopped by DQ so Joshua could get his ice cream and headed back into the city. The tunnel traffic was awesome and got across in a flash. However, the cross town traffic wasn't so good and it took us a while to get over and back to the rental place. In the end all fine. Raining profusely now, with lots of lightning. Time to read the paper for a while.

Chrome OS

The big surprise of the week, in tech, is the announcement of Google's Chrome OS, which will put the in direct competition with MicroSoft. Makes sense, it's the new logical move. It will run on top of linux. I think the key will be how friendly can they make it, in terms of ease of use and drivers. In the meantime the Windows 7 team has announced it has about 80,000 drivers ready to go for the new OS.
