bet

back home after a week-long trip to martha's vineyard. just got home a bit ago, and now unpacking. all good, nice to see nicole Smile . she went to DEspana and bought me a bunch of stuff i like: jamon, lomo, olives, manchego cheese, etc. she is now making appetizers for dinner. great to be back.

watched both soccer games yesterday, both via video streaming, the at&t network had decent bandwidth at our location in MV, i think we must have been near a tower because of the airport. i clocked it at 2 to 2.5 Mbps consistently. first watched part of the sevilla game, then the madrid game, then the barca vs. atletico game. good stuff.

a bunch of packages arrived for me while i was out: new slipers, a new mattress cover (the one we had was kinda old, and it is a nice tempurpedic mattress, so it's good to have a protector just in case), my new souped up tivo unit (yay!), and also a new class-T micro amplifier - awesome.

more displays

added a 21" monitor to my home setup. it's perfect because it can swivel, so i rotated it 90 degrees and since it runs at 1600x1200 that matches up exactly with the vertical resolution of the apple 30" cinemas, creating the wrap around effect Smile .

running handbrake now to convert a few movies into apple's mp4 format. kind of a tedious process.

nicole's fancy missoni bedding arrived today, looks cool.

weekend

getting ready to eat something for late brunch w/ nicole. great weekend so far, nice cool weather and enjoyable times.

we saw nicole's dad and margaret yesterday, they brought an Ikea DVD shelf Nicole had bought earlier this week, will try to assemble it later this evening. we went to Eataly for a light lunch, it was nice.

in the evening we went to dinner with friends, to The Dutch in SoHo, a very cool/trendy place. Nicole had to call a month in advance to get a reservation. dinner was delicious.

running some errands and things this morning. i also saw Orbit Audio released a micro amplifier, T-Class based, very nice, and priced at less than $100, might have to get one Smile . even though I already have more amplifiers than I can use in my apartment.
