wow, looks like hurrica irene is going to come thru this weekend. let's see how it goes. we got a bunch of supplies today, in case the stores stay closed. the MTA shuts down tomorrow at noon I think, no subways or trains in or out of the city.
according the city, union square is safe, even if a category 3 or great comes thru, there should be no flooding.

here is a really cool app for your phone: What's App. it's a $0.99 app for iphone, blackberry and android. it allows you text with your friends for free. unlimited texting, no cost. it does it by sending the messages thru your phone's data connection, bypassing the sms gateway.
once you install it, it uses your phone number as your id. it scans your phone book and finds everybody who's already on what's app and creates an alternate contact list.
recommended.
seinfeld is on, so funny every time. i just received my free tmobile pay as you card (ordered from the tmobile site), put it into my old blackberry, which i had previously had AT&T carrier-unlock, and activated it. works great, no problem. came with a few minutes of free time, great to test it out.
the next step in my operation is now call tmobile and tell them i want to migrate my land line to my new pre-paid phone. they should be able to do it.
the last step will be parking the transported line on google voice, that way i will be able to keep it forever basically for free. saving $30 a month from time warner.
