Sun

Weekend almost over. Heard from an ex-colleague from work, Andrey, he is going back to Russia, best of luck to him. Been txt'ing a little w/ Bill, she is redoing the carpeting in his apartment, and other flooring. Had lunch/dinner at Patsy's, great pizza. Yesterday's dinner at Longhorn was awesome , included a side of mushrooms of course.

Barca won, but so did Madrid, with mediocre football. Didn't get a chance to watch the games this weekend. Continues to be annoyingly cold, very unpleasant to walk around, plus it's now windy, ick.

Filed amended tax returns for last year, turns out that after closer inspection I can get back like a net $300, so I will take them. It will be tax time soon for this year.

Talked to my parents and my brother today. Windy episode in Spain, highly unusual. All fine.

Fri

Amazingly nice out, 45 F right now, it's been comfortable all day long. But it won't last long, cold front already approaching, will be here tomorrow and the temperature will be back in the teens, bah.

Busy week at work, as usual. Went into Pier 1 w Nicole this evening, had to get a few furnishings for the apartment. Kitchen is progressing along slowly. Floor is almost done, but now the contractor has run out of tiles, and he needs a few more to finish the sides (he has to cut them) and so we have to go to Kaleidoscope on 15th St. tomorrow to pick up more. Luckily Nicole already talked to Janise, the owner, and she has them in stock. Small accident, btw, looks like the cutting machine has a leak and the contractor left it full of water, so it started leaking spread into the living room. We moved the machine into a bathtub and dried up the floor. Should be OK I think.

Tomorrow going to NJ, and hitting Longhorn

Tue

It's almost Wed already, geez. Yesterday I was messing w/ my desktop and I had something happen that I never thought I would: my computer shut down half way through flashing the BIOS. It was a random event, I was in Windows and something caused the machine to shut down. Obviously that renders it useless until the BIOS is reprogrammed. Located the EPROM chip on the motherboard, pulled it and sent it to BIOSMAN in CA. Should be easy to re-write, all you need is a $300 device to do so. Not a bad business model, at $20 a pop very easy to recover original costs.

Monday

It's Martin Luther's King day, and we are off, which is great. Got up a bit ago, about to have breakfast.

Went out with Jodi, Joshua and Hans last night, had dinner at Otto. The place was super-crowded, tons of people. The food was excellent, we had antipasti and pizzas.

Watched Slumdog Millionaire when we got home, very good.
