NYC AutoShow

Went to the Auto Show yesterday with Hans. Super-packed, way too many people, but it was cool. Some nice cars on display, including a Mercedes SLR and a Porsche GT2, several Aston Martins, Bentleys, Laborghinis, etc. I took a few pics with my phone, I will post them some time. Below is one of them.

Site Outage

My ISP migrated the servers to a new facility over the weekend, so the site was down most of yesterday, Saturday. Forgot about it, otherwise I would have redirected traffic to a temp page. Anyway, all seems to be back and fine.

Thu

Got home a bit ago. I can't believe they are still not done with the new elevators in my building. The second one is taking foreeeever, they have been at it for many months. Got new Netflix movies, one of the recommended by Hans, let's see. Also have to watch up the AI results I guess. Went out w/ N yesterday, we had dinner at Bar Carrera, tapas, great stuff , then stopped by an interesting bar for a drink.

The weather seems to be getting slightly better, but not a whole lot. This weekend I am going to go to the NY International Auto Show, should be cool.

Renewed my external hosting agreement, can't believe a year has gone by since I set it up. I guess I have enough credits for 2 free domain registrations, will have to think what I want .

Also, joined Zagat's online membership and voted for a bunch of restaurants.

DVRs

I can't believe how buggy DVRs are in general. My TWC DVR locks up or crashes every 2-3 days, and that's without even using it that much. Seems like it really can't handle the whole viewing of recorded stuff and then switching back to live tv. The tuner gets stuck about a third of the time you want to watch TV, it's bad. I've had 3 different models, and they are all about as bad.

Watched AI, there is this one contestant, David Cook, who kicks as. He did a really cool rendition of Billie Jean today, very cool.

Tue Night

Fixin' something to eat, the weather continues as unpleasant as last week, in the 30's and low 40's, ugh.

I was looking over the technology section of Google news tonight, when I noticed this:

Not the article itself, but rather the author, Jacqui Cheng. I know Jacqui! She used to work with me, and was way cool. Besides being a web developer, she was also a part time writer for Ars Technica (excellent site if you've never heard of it, used to be one of my favorites years and years ago.)
