Tue

Another day down, not quite as bad as yesterday. I forgot my cell phone at work this evening. I had to note it because it's an usual event, it happens statistically twice a year (yes, I keep track of it.)

The cold continues, but it's not too bad. The wind is what makes it truly chilly. Gotta get something to eat, and I may go out later on.

Had a very interesting meeting with the Ad Council this morning, a NY-based non-profit. They work the giant media conglomerates to get free ad placements for relevant social interest causes. The placements can be radio, magazines, papers or TV. They are very successful at it, and have been around for 60 years. Very neat people, it's great to work with them.

Escalators

What's with escalators. I find they are broken about 15% of the time. Is the mechanism so complex that it breaks down so often? It would seem like we should have been able to perfect the technology by now, they've been around for quite some time. And it's usually the one that goes up that's broken. It's particularly annoying at airports and such, when are carrying heavy bags. Anyway, I digress.

Tortola

Talking to Bobby and Judit about a trip to Tortola Island, at BVI, as a follow up to last year's St Croix trip. That would be fun. Maybe in March, we'll see.

Mon

Mondays are pretty awful, eek. Particularly after being out of the office for a few days. Just got home a few moments ago. At least I had lunch at Vento, with their wonderful olives, Spanish ham and cheeses.

Heard from Monika, a friend of Nate's who is in town. We may meet up later this week. Also heard from Suki. Very chilly today, like in the 20's. I heard on the radio windchill 9 or something this morning. Got a txt from Bill, he just got a cashmere coat .

Osushi

Bobby took us to this wonderful sushi place in downtown Boston for dinner on Saturday, Osushi. Great, fresh food. Below is a quick review:

Located as it is in Copley Place, Osushi certainly doesn't want for lack of business. Of course, the convenience factor only partially explains this place's appeal. Hip and very sexy, the black and red minimalist space draws a cool mix of business types, international travelers and Back Bay hipsters. Sushi and sashimi are masterfully prepared using only the freshest available ingredients, and each dish is evocatively presented. The sake selection, unsurprisingly, draws vast approval from those who fancy themselves rice wine connoisseurs, and more adventurous palates should consider taking the plunge in one of the bar signature saketinis.

OSushi Restaurant, Boston

We went to a couple bars from there, and then to Katia's sister place. Great night.
