Tue night

Got stuck at work for a while this evening. Everything was fine until 7 or so, we even had a party going on at the bar, but then some of the dev servers ran into problems and had to get involved. Didn't get done until a few minutes ago.

On an unrelated note, I had the co-op board interview yesterday. Very nice people, 2 ladies and 2 gentlemen asked me a few questions. It was quite pleasant. My broker called this afternoon to let me know I was approved. Next step: set up the closing, which will be no small task. Then, schedule movers, pack, etc.

At the same time, my current building has started a condo conversion process, which seems to be common in the city these days. The property owner, Swig Equities, just published "The Red Herring", which is a compilation of information they have to provide to all tenants explaining the process, and including the values of all apartments. The booklet is like 400 pages long. I found out the studio I'm currently leasing is almost 700 sq ft and has been upraised at $989,000 (!) This area - Columbus Circle - is now hot because of the new AOL Time Warner buildings, the mall, Whole Foods, the new Columbus Circle itself, the new cool glass building on 57th and 8th, etc.

Postcards from my neighborhood

A few quick pics I took today. The first one shows my building (to the left) and the new cool building being built right next to it. The second one shows this new building better, all glass and metal. The thrid one is a shot of 8th ave on 56th street. The forth night is the view from my window at night, with the Hudson River as a backdrop.

Computers

A picture of my computer rig, I don't think I've ever posted one. The blue box to the right is the workstation, the red box underneath it is the server.

I think I'll go out and catch a movie. It's very nice and pleasant right now.

Power supply

So, the power supply for the workstation finally arrived yesterday. Worked out just fine, replaced the old in 5 minutes and the computer was up and running again. This one is 250W instead of 200W. At first it made high-pitched noise, but now it's good and quiet.

Got up relatively early today too actually. About 75F outside. I may go out and get something to eat shortly.

Sunday

I got around to transferring pics from my camera this morning. Like I was saying earlier, here are a couple pics from the hotel window in Cinci last Friday. One at night and one during the day. Nice view of downtown.
