Monday night

Got home a few min ago. Rainy today, but not too cold, which is good. Been reading details about the botnet attack on Estonia last year, very interesting. Points out how vulnerable the whole Internet is. Not super hungry, I will wait a bit before I have dinner. Added a couple more entries to my hosts file:

127.0.0.1 www.fubar.com
127.0.0.1 eas.apm.emediate.eu

Made a few purchases a JCrew, had this cool 20% off coupon I took advantage of .

Types of cones

Judit and Bobby just got back from San Diego, they are all tanned. She sent me this picture with 3 possible types of cones. This is way funny because we always get confused with what type of cone we want to order when we go to this ice cream shop in Cambridge. This should help clarify . I like the wafer best.

Brooklyn

Went to a wedding in Brooklyn this evening, it was a good friend on Nicole's, Agelina. Big Italian wedding with a big reception. Tons of people, like 250+. It was fine. We left around 11 or so, and it was still going. A car service took us back into the city very quickly.

Chilly out, like close to 32 F (0 C).

Read this interesting article a couple of weeks back about wrecked boats and teams that specialize in saving the cargos. These teams assemble an eclectic mix of invididuals, from divers and naval engineers, to salvage masters. When they are in international waters, they use this thing called "Lloyd's open form" to agree on the salvage terms. The agreement is a "no cure - no pay" contract. All very interesting. The guys are pretty crazy, it's an extremely dangerous job.

Annoying pop ups

Dear visitor: I know you may get some annoying pop up ads when visiting this site. That's because I am using a "free stats" service to help me track traffic, etc. and they are the ones popping the ads. There are several ways to get rid of them. A combination of 3 layers totally eliminates them:

1. Make sure your pop up blocker is on for your browser
2. If you have a help bar (Yahoo, Google, etc.), make sure the pop up blocker is on for that
3. This is the most effective: add entries to your hosts file that redirect the pop up domains to 127.0.0.1

Below are the entries on my hosts file for example. It is in C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc. Just open it and edit it with notepad. That will do it, if 1 and 2 didn't completely eliminate them. You can also keep adding more domains as you find them.

Dinner last night

Had dinner at Tailor, on Broome St., with a few friends last night, it was very good. I tried the Foie Gras apetizer and then Wild bass. The we went out for a drink into a cool little bar, nearby another place called The Library, which was too crowded. This place didn't even have a sign, you had to know it was a bar. Eclectic mix of people inside, we had a good time.

Sunny and not quite so cold today, although still unpleasant for being pretty much April.
