Linkedin down

Got an email from Tamika, ex colleague at CoActive, she worked in the finance department, to connect via LinkedIn. Went to the site and it says it's down for maintenance. Interesting. Here is the image you get:

Week so far

Pheeew, another blur of a week. So incredibly busy at work, working on pretty cool stuff. I saw Getty Images sold by 2 billion a couple of weeks ago, forgot to mention it. I think Nate will probably make out quite well, and Monika won't do bad either, she IM'd briefly this morning to say she already went on a "preliminary shopping spree", too funny

Extra cold, like in the 20's all day, brrr. And windy too. Hopefully we only had a few more weeks of cold left, shouldn't be that much longer.

Exchanged emails with my parents this morning, all well on that front. Supposed to go to Boston to visit Bobby and Judit in 3 weeks, that will be fun. Just confirmed with Judit a couple of days ago.

So, met up with Roland for drinks late last night. Nicole joined me and met Roland and Lisa. The were with a few people from the agency where Lisa used to work. We stayed there till about 11, then headed out for quick late dinner in the East Village. After that we stopped by this place next to Bar Veloce for a drink, it's by the same owners I think, cool Spanish wine and tapas place. And after that stopped by this other sports bar next to Nicole's, fun.

Heard from Pep, he is back in Spain permanently, had a very good and quick flight back. He made it in just under 6 hours, they had strong tail winds.

Backing up a few DVDs right now. Also need to get something to eat soo. Have olives and some other food left from the Oscars mini-party

I am behind posting a few picture albums, I will try to catch up over the weekend. Maybe. Oh, also, Lindsay and Renee can't make it to our next group dinner, they are going to India, a last minute decision to visit a friend.

Monday

As usual, long day today Monday, just got home a few moments ago. Need to eat something quick and go to bed. Tomorrow will be a very long day as well, need to get a project done. Should be OK though, it's pretty interesting stuff. Let's see if I can pull it off in a day.

I have started using my new AMEX card and as I result I have accrued a bunch of bonus miles this month, cool.

I spent some time programming my new Harmony 890 remote yesterday. The software is kind of buggy, so it took a few attemps, and I had to remove the battery and restart it a couple times, but it ultimately worked out. The remote itself is pretty nice, ergonomic, but I think Logitec's (who bought Harmony) best IP is in the device database they have compiled. I was surprised to see every one of my components, including my relatively obscure Oppo player, were in there. Neat. The actions programming didn't quite work, but that's easy to fix. I think my setup is far too complicated to get it all working with the "default" steps. I will spend a few more min next weekend, should be easy to tweak.

Oscars

Red dresses, black dresses. Watched the Oscars at home with Pep and Nicole. Pep is leaving for Spain permanently on Tue, so it was a last chance to hang out. We played Rock Band for a while before the show, he was on the drums and I was on the guitar, fun!

Regarding the Oscards, European actors swept the 80th Academy Awards Sunday night, with England's Daniel Day-Lewis as Best Actor and Spain's Javier Bardem as Best Supporting Actor.

Bardem's performance came in the movie - "No Country for Old Men" - that took home the evening's biggest prize - Best Picture.

The Coen brothers, Joel and Ethan, also won the Best Director for the film.

But big surprises came as France's Marion Cotillard got Best Actress and Brit Tilda Swinton won Best Supporting Actress.

Last night

Had dinner at the Pretrossian with Nicole, a classic (and kind of fancy) restaurant by Central Park. It is own by the Petrossian family, who are known for their caviar import and export business. Other great dishes include fish and foie gras. Great food. Once we were done we stopped by an old hang out of mine, Bar 9, on 9th ave and 55th st. Fun atmosphere as usual .

Slept in and got up late today. Pep and Nicole both coming to watch the Oscars at my place.
