So cute, one more pic my brother posted today:

As I was perusing my song collection I came across another hit I hadn't listened to in a while: Europe's "Final Countdown". From wikipedia:
![]() | "The Final Countdown" is a 1986 hit single released by the Swedish hard rock band Europe. It was the first single released internationally from the album The Final Countdown, and was number 1 in 26 countries, selling more than 8 million copies worldwide. The song is based on an old keyboard riff that vocalist Joey Tempest composed as early as around 1981–82, on a Korg Polysix keyboard that he borrowed from keyboardist Mic Michaeli. The synth riff used in the recording was performed on a Roland JX-8P. The lyrics were inspired by David Bowie's song "Space Oddity". |
Listening to an obscure hit from the late 80's, "Voyage, Voyage" by Claudie Fritsch-Mentrop (know as Desireless.) Probably never made it to the US. It was huge all over Europe and other parts of the world:
Voyage Voyage
![]() | After a brief career as a fashion designer, Claudie found her way into singing. She met producer Jean-Michel Rivat in 1984 and they began to work together. In 1985, Claudie met François Tabah (a popular French songwriter,) and they lived together 18 years. In 1989, after the release of a first single "Chercher l'Amour Fou" and "Qui Peut Savoir" as "Air" (not to confuse with the later Electro act "Air"), the release of "Voyage, Voyage" as Desireless becomes a huge success, reaching high positions on European charts (even in Russia) turning into an instant club favorite. In 1990, Desireless releases her first album, "François", based upon the name of her lover. The birth of Claudie's daughter the same year forces her to leave show business for a while. Her second album "I Love You" is released in 1992. This time, Claudie write many of the tracks and many styles are explored. Since then, she came back to a much personal approach of music and got out of the big business circuit. She still performs and sings along with many collaborators, her styles ranging from Electronica to Bossa Nova and acoustic. Here is her official site. |
BTW, forgot to say that I played with the Google Image Labeler thingy a couple of weeks back, kind of cool, very clever as usual.
Sunday. Stayed out late last night, but got up relatively early. Met with a friend for drinks in the evening, stopped by to see Colleen, and ended up at Playwright Tavern, talking to some British people. Bonds tied the home run record yesterday, you can read about it here.
Interesting article about calling for free online in the NYTimes. I have tried Skype and Jajah, they both work OK.
Hans arrived yesterday, he is busy finalizing the paperwork and getting settled in. My cousins are arriving shortly today, talked to Fatima for a few minutes this morning.
Almost done copying the MP3 collection back to HD, down to 6 disks. This time I am going to back it up to another hard drive ![]()
