ok, been up since about 7 this morning, checking things out. irene hit manhattan around 8 am, heavy rain and some wind, but it passed pretty quickly. no apparent damage in our area, near union square. i see people out on the streets now, walking around. valentino's new market, a deli nearby is open for business. almost no rain anymore, and no wind. the sun is trying peak out. no power loss either.

i would guess it may take another day for the MTA to be back up, so some people may not be able to get to the city monday morning. tue should be fine, i think.
