Tue

A few things going on this evening, had to go to Skylight Studios with Chris to double-check some stuff for a client. Then I headed back to the Marriot Marquis for the OMMA awards reception. The reception itself was fine, but the awards show was terrible. The computer slideshow was out of sync all the time, they made the mistake of showing the art first, and then every time they got to explaining it, they had move on to the next slide showing the client and agency name, which prevented you from actually seeing what they were talking about. On top of that, the main presenter lady was helplessly inebriated. The whole thing was very poorly planned and executed.

Then, when I had almost walked back home, by 9 pm, I got a call from Joanne and Mark at Skylight again, some issue with a government IT concern with some attendee, blah, blah. I had to hop back in a cab, go down, deal with it. By the time I got back home it was 11 pm again

Quidam

Don't remember if I had mentioned that I saw Cirque de Soleil's Quidam a couple of weeks ago, very cool.

Monday

Standard Monday, they are always kind of long. Left work around 8, met up with a colleague from work for dinner in Bryant Park, and took a walk. Got home around midnight. Very pleasant weather.

I always find surprising how people are interested in street vendors that offer:

1) Names drawn with pastel colors in big name tags, with flowers or other ornaments, usually by Asian looking gentlemen. I don't get it. Why would you ever want to take an ornate hand drawn version of your name on a big name tag. Totally don't get.

2) Colorful spray painted landscapes, creating using color spray cans. The results are never very impressive, and the paintings are very messy, and I think, ugly, yet people seem fascinated by it when they see the painters in action. Don't get it at all.
