IE 8

Installing IE8 on my laptop now. I already did so on my home desktop yesterday. Let's see how well it works. I hope it's fast, like Chrome.

Google Weather mistake

I have been meaning to post this for a while. I noticed a few weeks back that Google messed up with their weather widget, and every time it displayed the weather for my work zipcode, 10016, it would think I am somewhere in Italy . I was curious to see how long it would take before they realized. They eventually corrected it, but it took them a surprisingly long time, like a couple weeks. Below is a snapshot of what it looked like.

Snow in late March

This morning it snowed. We came out and headed to work and it was cold, smushy and it was snowing. Luckily it didn't last too long, and the snow didn't stick because the temperature is ~40, but still.

We had part of the afternoon off at work today, started our own St. Patrick festivities around 3 pm, and they went on till 8 or so. Everybody in green, lots of beer games and pizza, people had a great time.

I realized this morning that it was going to take forever to move my mp3 collection over wireless to the 500 Gb external drive I attached to my server. I may have to use other approaches to get the data over. I find all forms of wireless networks generally too slow for any data intensive application. In fact, I find HDs in general too slow. As I have said before, they are by far the slowest part on any PC, every time you wait for something chances are the HD is the problem.
