Pretty funny, the noteworthy geeky comment of the day has to be about Digg. Unhappy users buried the site with thousands of "diggs" pointing to URLs hosting the newly cracked HD-DVD encryption key, which can be used to decrypt the high-definition discs and copy their content. This occurred in retaliation to the site owners attempting to remove any postings referencing said key after they got a cease-and-desist letter from another company asserting that the posts violated its intellectual property rights. The community eventually won, the Digg's CEO made an announcement saying they would stop trying to remove user postings. A test case for the power of user-generated content on social networking sites.
It's all over the news.

It wasn't long before Cafepress.com and other places started offering t-shirs with the 09-f9-... code on them today, haha.
I've noticed a good number of sites have issues with their layouts behaving correctly. You will notice it because their scroll bars never quite disappear (no matter how big you make the page, easily accommodating all the content.) At times they also have inexplicably wide horizontal or vertical gaps in odd places. Poor coding. Even big sites, like certain areas of Sun's site.
Directions site, recommends the most efficient public transportation routes. The one cool thing these guys have is a 360 degree view of pretty much every intersection at a few major metros. Check it out. You have to do a from and to address, and then scroll down to the 360 view icon. Sample below, the corner of 34th and 5th at Herald Square, in front of Macy's.

Very overcast, probably going to start raining any minute now, if it isn't already. Talked to Bill for a couple minutes last night, he was on his way to nightly study session.
