Got to the track by 6:30 am this morning. The ambassadors were ready by 7:03 am. Everything ran flawlessly. It's windy. The forecast calls for wind gusts of up to 50 mph. The crew is slightly worried about the tent structure, but I think it will be fine.
We ate at one of the MGM restaurants last night, excellent food. I didn't realize the MGM is so big, it's an enourmous complex with lots of entertainment, clubs, restaurants, shops, etc. besides the casino floor. I spent some time at the blackjack tables. Not long, just about 30 to 45 min. I played dumb and made an easy $50 with a rookie dealer. May spend some more time tonight. We are planning on going to one of the new clubs the ambassadors recommended (some work there), I think it's called Pure.
Switching subjects back to the race, Matt Kenseth was fastest in Saturday's final practice. Will he visit Victory Lane at Las Vegas for the third consecutive year? The UAW-Daimler Chrysler 400 takes the green flag shortly after 3 p.m. ET!

I checked into the MGM Grand in Las Vegas a couple of hours ago. I'm in the west wing, which has been completely remodeled. Got a brand new room, supposedly I'm the first one to use it (new bed, new sheets, etc.)
Feels good to have a real shower. I may hit the main strip tonight, may even play a hand of blackjack or two ![]()
