Today: 9/11

Today was ridiculously hot in NYC, in the 90s all day, and very humid. In fact it's still 85 F (30 C) at 10 pm. They say it's supposed to rain tomorrow, which will cool everything down, that's good.

Today, besides being the 9-11 anniversary in the US, it was also the national day of Catalonia, "la diada".

Incidentally, the Catalan president, Artur Mas, wrote an Op-Ed article on the NY Times about his intent to hold a referendum regarding Catalonia's status as a separate country, similar to what Quebec did or Scotland will do next year, which is controversial within Spain and not clear it will ever happen.

new iPhones

Apple came out with their new iPhone models yesterday: the 5s and the cheaper 5c (in plastic and different colors). The reception by the press and Wall Street wasn't great citing lack of groundbreaking innovation, though I would argue cell phones are become mature products and it's getting harder to wow every 12 months. I still think the new 5s is pretty cool and will likely get one. It will be in stores Sept 20 (in the US)
