Myspace outage
Interesting specualtion about a MySpace outage this morning. Apparently the site was "buggy" for a couple hours. They say it did not accept any new widgets, but existing ones would work. People say it could be a test to see how well MySpace could block out third party code if they wanted to. Then they could allow only "certified partners", and of course charge a fee for certification. Clever. Or it could just have been a bug.
Related, allegedly, MySpace is upset that YouTube or Photobucket for example get tons of attention, yet the main reason they are successful is because they embed their content in MySpace. The overwhelming majority on YouTube's daily streams are on MySpace.
