iTunes 10 review
Installed iTunes 10 this week. It's fine, I suppose, but still a little buggy. I found at least 3 or 4 problems. Some comments:
1. Took a really long time to rebuild the library file (as in, hours). I guess in part expected because of the volume of files, but do they have to really keep tinkering with the file format in every single release? that is kind of annoying, as if they can't get it right. we are in version 10, seems like they would have settled on an architecture and format by now.
2. When you send the app to the tray, the next day there is a 50/50 chance it would open when you double click on it. Even if you try to launch it again, it won't open. You have to go to the task manager, kill the process, and launch it again. Tsk, tsk.
3. The icon on the tray is not properly anti-aliased, has white edges that look bad if you have a dark color scheme for your desktop. This is a QA/attention to detail thing.
4. It messed up my books on ibook. It would not sync them properly to my iphone. I had to give them all ratings to force it to re-sync. Something is not quite right in the way it handles the sync process.
On the positive side, it seems a little faster maybe, and the UI is a little nicer. It also recognized my remote speakers right away, so the interface with Bonjour is working well.
