iPhone X: First Impressions

I've had my new iPhone X, the 256Gb Space Gray model, for a few days now, and wanted to write some quick first impressions:

-The phone is the Verizon model, even though I was an AT&T customer. Two reasons, the Verizon model is compatible and open to work on all networks while the AT&T model does not work on CDMA networks like Sprint and Verizon. The Verizon model also comes with a Qualcomm X16 modem which is more reliable and capable of faster download speeds (up to 1Gbps) vs. the Intel model on the AT&T models which maxes out at 600 Mbps. This is due to legal issues w/ Qualcomm. Further, apparently, Apple has crippled the Qualcomm X16 on some iPhone X models to even things out and match the inferior capabilities of the AT&T phones

-Was a bit of pain getting the phone to work with my AT&T SIM, but in the end no big deal. I had to activate it first on the Verizon SIM it came with (which was my wife's number), and once I did that I was able to swap SIMs and mine worked just fine.

-The phone feels very fast, as new iPhones always do until Apple starts slowing them down via their iOS "upgrades" - boggles my mind how a class action suit on this hasn't yet moved forward, BTW.

-The phone feels very smooth to the touch, because it's all glass. Feels way better in your hand than previous metal iPhones, it's not cold and it's nice to hold

-The phone size is perfect, it has a screen slightly larger than the previous "plus" models, but the phone itself is a little narrower and shorter. It's perfect and unlike the plus models I am now able to handle it with one hand perfectly

-iOS seems a little glitchy on it, I've had one app crash, one "touch malfunction" where I had to reboot it manually to get it back to normal (had started responding to touch), and some other small glitches here and there. Feels "beta" and not fully tested. I imagine Apple will resolve over the coming weeks and months, but still, kind of interesting they are holding a lower bar

-The camera works really well, significant improvement vs previous models

-I have no issue w/ the lack of home button, works great without it, and I got used to the new gestures quickly and seamlessly

-No issue w/ the lack of headphone jack either, it's fine, mostly using bluetooth anyway

-FaceID works very well, I often wear very different types of glasses from one day to the next, and it has no problem recognizing my face, it's good

And that's the initial recap for now, will report more if I have interesting things to say.
